Scouting for Food is a nationwide Boy Scouts of America stewardship project aimed at addressing a problem in our community. Scouting for Food is a food collection effort carried out by Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts. Scouts distribute and collect plastic bags throughout a designated area to people’s homes with a message asking them to fill the bags with food, later to be picked up by Scouts. The bags are collected and carried to common collection points. The food is then delivered to local provider agencies who make the food available to the needy through food pantries and other shelters for the homeless. This is a project rooted in the very foundation of the Scouting movement. Through initiative and hard work, the Boy Scouts of America has developed a framework that feeds tens of thousands of needy local residents with emergency aid.
